CAN: Core Arterial Network

I SUPPORT the CAN Network

As a proud born and raised NY’er, I would like to say the CAN, CAN (insert the Radio City Rockettes)

But this CAN isn’t about the Rockettet doing the can, can; its about transportation pathways that speak to the needs of the diverse people and travelers in this community.

Their safety, well being and futures depend on streets that are designed for all:

• The children trying to walk, or ride their bikes to/from school or the parks.

• The adults trying to get around by way of bikes, cars, busses, other wheels, or walking.

• The visitor trying to see all the beautiful things Boulder has to offer.

Transportation needs to be safe for everyone. Our neighbors are people pushing strollers, little feet just learning to balance on two feet, bikers, e-bikers, e-motorists, wheelchairs, scooters, onewheel, skateboards and maye soon hoverboards (Back to the Future).

This means we need roads, and pathways that are intentionally designed in ways that prioritize safety, not one mode of transport over another.

On Iris:

I am somebodies mama, and I know the fear and worry that people who care about the well being of children can have when they walk out the door without us to ensure their path is free of harm.

Iris serves:

Columbine, Crest View, Foothills, Casey, Centennial & Boulder High

We know BVSD doesn’t have the ability to bus all children. So while we do not have the data on who or age groups of the people who navigate these spaces we do know there are 6 different schools impacted by what happens on Iris.

We need to ensure that what we do protectsthe futures of our children, and that includes ensuring their adulthood isn’t interrupted by a car accident.

Pathways that protect the blind, and wheelchair using members of our community.
